Shearwater invests in the local community by supporting the Dunoon Business Improvement District (BID), which provides financial support to local businesses and promotes the area as a place to do business. Shearwater also invests in local suppliers and contractors, participates in community events, and supports grassroots clubs and charities. By being a member of the Dunoon BID, Shearwater is able to participate in a wide range of initiatives that benefit both the business and the local community.
Located on the Cowal Peninsula on Scotland’s west coast, we take great pride in our role as part of the local community. The Dunoon Business Improvement District (BID) is a private-public partnership that brings together businesses in the area to work collectively towards the long-term benefit of the local business community. By pooling their resources, businesses are able to undertake projects that would be difficult or impossible to achieve alone, such as marketing campaigns or physical improvements to the area.
Alastair Baird, one of our directors, currently sits on the BID's board. As a member of the board, he is responsible for helping to manage and implement the BID's strategic aims. These aims include providing financial support to local businesses, promoting the area as a place to do business, and strengthening the area's overall economy.
